Technology Used
The system consists of the following components:-
RFID tag or transponder:-
Tag is a chip which has some internal memory and are electronically programmed to store information. Most RFID tags contain at least two parts. One is an integrated circuit for storing and processing Information, modulating and demodulating a radio-frequency (RF) signal, and other specialized functions. The second is an antenna for receiving and transmitting the signal. These tags can be either active or passive.
RFID reader or transceiver: - An RFID reader consists of an antenna, transceiver and decoder, which sends periodic signals to inquire about any tag in vicinity. RFID reader is connected to a computer just like a barcode scanner. RFID reader is the interface which handles the communication between information system (host server) and tag.
Data Processing subsystem: -
The data processing subsystem is a host terminal or server computer which provides the means of processing and storing the data.
